Se houve alguém, na Terra, que se devotasse inteiramente à
causa da Justiça, a ponto de ser chamado “o Justo dos justos”, esse
alguém foi Jesus, o Cristo.
Não se encontra, em toda a sua vida, um só episódio, uma só
oportunidade, em que houvesse capitulado na defesa do direito ou
transigido com a impostura e a iniquidade.
Que fizeram com Ele, entretanto?
Não podendo suportar sua superioridade moral, que os
apequenava, nem aceitar sua doutrina fraternista, que lhes
infirmava a situação de favorecimento, os poderosos da época
entraram a acossá-lo sem tréguas e não se deram por satisfeitos
enquanto não o viram pregado ao madeiro, à conta de um celerado
qualquer!
Exatamente porque sabia ser este um planeta dos menos
evoluídos na hierarquia dos mundos, cuja Humanidade, salvo
raras exceções, se ressentia, como ainda se ressente, de grande
atraso espiritual, Jesus, longe de prometer aos seus discípulos uma
vida gloriosa e livre de atribulações, preveniu-os, clara e
reiteradamente, de que outra coisa não deveriam esperar, senão
calunias, injurias e perseguições.
Eis, entre outras, algumas dessas advertências:
“Eu vos mando como ovelhas no meio de lobos”; “por me
seguirdes, sereis açoitados nas sinagogas, assim como vos
arrastarão à presença de governadores e de reis”; “por causa do
meu nome, sereis odiados de todos, e chegará a hora em que todo
aquele que vos matar julgará prestar um serviço a Deus”; “o
servo não é mais do que seu senhor, e, se perseguiram a mim, hão
de perseguir-vos também”.
Nestes vinte séculos, outra não tem sido, realmente, a sorte dos
que procuraram ou procuram implantar na Terra um estilo de vida
baseado na justiça, tomado esse termo em sua mais profunda
significação.
Assim é que, por não se conformarem com o erro, a opressão,
as simonias, os privilégios de casta e de classe, a exploração do
homem pelo homem etc.
, e, corajosamente, se terem empenhado
em dar-lhes combate, muitos hão sido esmagados e eliminados,
sob a pecha de apóstatas, hereges, traidores, infiéis, agitadores, e
quejandos, quando, em verdade, eram autênticos construtores
desse mundo melhor, mais livre e mais feliz, com que sonhamos.
Sim, todos os idealistas que têm procurado, à custa de ingentes
sacrifícios, fazer que nosso mundo progrida: moral, política ou
mesmo materialmente, sempre encontraram acérrimos e cruéis
opositores, que não trepidaram em lançá-los às fogueiras, levantálos
em forcas, passá-los à espada, trucidá-los em instrumentos de
suplício, encerrá-los em masmorras, espingardeá-los ou
excomungá-los, para manterem regimes ou sistemas de que eram
beneficiários.
Com o decorrer dos tempos, os processos de perseguições a
esses idealistas têm-se modificado um pouco; todavia, a
animosidade contra eles continua a fazer-se sentir.
Aquele, no entanto, que tão bem soubera prever as violências
que seriam infligidas aos que lhe partilhassem os anseios de
justiça, também os exortou, dizendo: “Não temais os que matam
o corpo, mas não podem matar a alma”; “porfiai até ao fim”; e,
sob a mesma inspiração que levou os melhores homens do passado
a lutarem pelo progresso das ideias e das instituições, outras
