QUANDO ORARDES… – Rodolfo Calligaris – O Sermão da Montanha
“Quando orardes, não deveis ser como os hipócritas, que
gostam de orar em pé nas sinagogas e nos cantos das ruas, para
serem vistos dos homens: em verdade vos digo, que eles já
receberam a sua recompensa.
Quando quiserdes orar, entrai em vosso aposento e, fechada a
porta, orai a vosso Pai em secreto; e Ele, que vê o que se passa
em secreto, vos dará a paga.
E, orando, não faleis muito como os gentios; pois cuidam que
pelo seu muito falar serão ouvidos.
Não queirais, portanto, parecer-vos com eles; porque vosso
Pai sabe o que vos é necessário, antes que vos lho peçais.
”

Os fariseus, tantas vezes censurados por Jesus por causa da
hipocrisia que lhes caracterizava as ações, até quando oravam,
deixavam transparecer essa terrível falha moral.
Tinham horas certas para isso e, em chegando os momentos
determinados, quer estivessem no templo, quer se encontrassem
num logradouro público, recitavam, em altas vozes, suas orações,
evidentemente mais para exaltação própria, para se fazerem passar
por piedosos, do que para glorificarem a Deus, e daí a razão pela
qual afirmou Jesus que, com tal prática, já estavam
recompensados.
Ensinando-nos: “quando quiserdes orar, entrai em vosso
aposento e, fechada a porta, orai a vosso Pai em secreto, e Ele
vos dará a paga”, o Mestre deixa claro que a oração, para ser
ouvida por Deus, precisa revestir-se de fervor e sinceridade, e,
pois, deve ser feita em estado de alma todo especial, sem que
olhares e ouvidos curiosos nos constranjam ou inibam.
Jesus mesmo, quando queria entrar em comunhão com o Pai,
buscava os lugares ermos, longe do burburinho das cidades, e ali,
em silêncio, fazia as suas preces.
Não queremos, absolutamente, negar valimento às preces
coletivas que se fazem nos templos de todas as organizações
religiosas, desde que haja recolhimento e os presentes se
associem, de coração, ao mesmo objetivo, porquanto o Mestre
também orava em companhia de seus discípulos.
O que desejamos frisar é que em locais onde se aglomerem
muitas pessoas, onde os mais variados estímulos externos
impeçam uma boa concentração, impossível se torna
estabelecermos um colóquio íntimo, absorvente, com o Pai
celestial, e só nestas condições, livres de qualquer perturbação, é
que poderemos abrir-lhe nossa alma, segredar-lhe nossas misérias,
falar-lhe de nossas necessidades e pedir-lhe que nos auxilie, como
o faríamos em conversa particular com um amigo dileto e
merecedor de nossa inteira confiança.
Importa reconhecermos, também, que as preces feitas
maquinalmente, apenas de lábios, enquanto o pensamento
vagueia, assim como as orações em língua estrangeira, que não
entendamos, e, por conseguinte, não nos sensibilizem nem nos
edifiquem, pouco ou quase nada valem, por lhes faltar aquele
cunho de fervor e sinceridade a que anteriormente nos referimos.
De acordo, ainda, com o texto evangélico em epígrafe,
tampouco é a repetição mais ou menos prolongada de certas
orações que nos granjeará as bênçãos celestiais.
Para Deus, que é onisciente e sabe o que necessitamos, antes
de lhe pedirmos, tem mais significação o apelo inarticulado de
uma alma aflita, o quebrantamento mudo de um coração tocado
pelo remorso, do que as longas orações que se façam por mero
formalismo ou em atendimento a hábitos convencionais, mas em
que o sentimento não intervenha.
Bom é que desfaçamos, por último, o equívoco muito corrente
de que as orações possuam o mérito de expiar pecados e que, para
purificar-nos de nossas culpas, bastam uns tantos “pai nossos”
etc.
, balbuciados à guisa de penitência.
As orações não têm, nem poderiam ter tal eficácia, porque
infirmariam os princípios da Justiça Divina, segundo os quais cada
um deve colher os frutos de sua própria semeadura.
O Espiritismo elucida-nos que, conquanto não possa mudar os
desígnios de Deus, a prece tem, todavia, enormíssimo valor,
quando feita com fé, pois atrai a assistência dos bons Espíritos
(santos, anjos ou que outras denominações queiramos dar-lhes),
os quais podem infundir-nos um suprimento de coragem para
enfrentarmos, com denodo, os obstáculos que surjam em nosso
caminho, ou então sugerir-nos boas ideias, em forma de intuição,
sobre como sairmos, por nós mesmos, das dificuldades que nos
assoberbam.
Ela pode dar-nos, também, a paciência necessária
para suportarmos, resignadamente, as expiações por que tenhamos
de passar, em consequência de nossos erros desta ou de
existências pretéritas.
Assim compreendida, a prece é sempre benéfica, jamais fica
sem resposta, e constitui o melhor recurso de que os cristãos
devem valer-se quando sintam que a vida se lhes torna um fardo
pesado demais para as suas forças.
